Three months may not sound like a “big” milestone.

There’s no sitting independently yet. No crawling. No first birthday candles.

But oh, what a beautiful stage it is.

Three months is one of those quiet milestones — but after photographing sweet Skyelar in the studio, I’m reminded just how meaningful this season truly is.

Meeting Skyelar

From the moment Skyelar arrived, she was wide-eyed and curious. No sleepy newborn stretches  — she was alert, taking everything in, studying the room like she was already trying to figure it all out.

We started with my large wicker bassinet with a creamy blanket. I wanted to keep the focus on Skyelar. Her chunky sweater just accentuated her cubby cheeks! In the beginning she stared at me with wonder.

And then… she started smiling.

Not the accidental newborn smiles.

The real ones.

The kind that happened every time she heard her mama’s voice behind me.

Personality Blooming

Three months is when babies start to truly connect — and Skyelar was no exception.

She gave:

Bright, intentional eye contact

The softest little coos between shots

Strong tummy-time head lifts (and the proudest look afterward!)

Tiny fingers wrapped tightly around mom’s hand

There was a moment during tummy time when she lifted her head high, locked eyes the camera and gave the cutest smile! My heart melted and I'm pretty sure Mom's did too!

Those are the moments you can’t stage.

Those are the moments that tell the story.

The Sweet In-Between

Skyelar is no longer that curled-up newborn… but she’s not sitting up on her own just yet. She’s right in that beautiful in-between — filling out, growing stronger, becoming more expressive every single day.

We captured soft snuggles in mom’s arms, close-up details of her lashes and lips, and those wide, curious eyes that seem to say, “I’m starting to understand this world.”

Three months may not come with cake or balloons.

But it comes with connection.

It comes with recognition.

It comes with the beginning of personality shining through.

A Season That Deserves to Be Remembered

One day, Skyelar will be running into the studio instead of being carried in.

One day, those tiny fingers won’t wrap so perfectly around her mama’s finger.

And when that day comes, these images will bring everyone right back to this quiet, beautiful stage.

The coos.

The gummy smiles.

The proud little head lifts.

The way she fit so perfectly in her parents’ arms.

Skyelar’s 3-month milestone session was a reminder that you don’t have to wait for the “big” moments to document your baby’s story.

The quiet ones matter just as much. 💛
