One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is getting to step into someone else's world for a day. Every business has a story, and every entrepreneur has a passion that deserves to be seen. That was exactly the case when I had the opportunity to spend the morning with Nicole, the owner and baker behind The Nic of Time Bakery.
This session was especially meaningful because Nicole isn't just a client—she's also a dear friend. Watching her build her business has been such a joy, and seeing her dreams continue to grow has been incredibly inspiring. Being trusted to document this chapter of her journey made this branding session even more special to me.
Nicole welcomed me into her home bakery, where every cookie, cake, and sweet treat is thoughtfully handcrafted. From the moment I arrived, I could see just how much love she pours into everything she creates. Her kitchen was filled with colorful icing, baking tools, beautifully decorated cookies, and plenty of creativity. It was impossible not to smile while watching her transform simple ingredients into edible works of art.
One of my favorite parts of photographing Nicole was seeing her completely in her element. There was so much joy in the room as she shared her process, talked about her business, and laughed with me throughout the morning. Because we've been friends for years, the session felt incredibly relaxed and natural. We reminisced, celebrated how far she's come, and had so much fun creating images that truly reflect who she is.
Rather than simply posing for a few portraits, we focused on telling the story of her business.
We also spent time styling different areas of her workspace, photographing her branded packaging, highlighting the beautiful details of her baked goods, and creating a variety of images she can use throughout the year. Instead of leaving with just a handful of photos, Nicole now has a complete collection of professional images for her website, social media, marketing materials, newsletters, and future promotions.
One thing I love about branding photography is that no two sessions are ever the same. Every business has its own personality, and my goal is to create images that reflect that personality in an authentic way. For Nicole, that meant capturing warmth, creativity, attention to detail, and the welcoming feeling customers experience when they receive one of her delicious creations.
Throughout the session, I documented Nicole mixing ingredients, carefully decorating cookies, packaging orders, and putting the finishing touches on her beautiful creations. We captured the little moments that often go unseen—the concentration on her face while piping intricate details, the excitement of seeing a finished order come together, and the genuine pride she has in creating something special for every customer.
Of course, we also took plenty of portraits of Nicole herself. As small business owners, we often spend so much time showcasing our products that we forget people want to know the person behind the business. Customers love seeing the face behind the brand, and those personal images help build trust and connection long before someone places an order.

Nicole's kindness, creativity, and heart shine through in everything she does. Those are the qualities I wanted these images to capture—not just beautiful baked goods, but the incredible woman behind them.

Nicole, thank you for inviting me into your home bakery and for trusting me with your story. It means so much that I could photograph not only your business but also this exciting season of growth. As your friend, I'm so proud of everything you've accomplished, and I can't wait to watch The Nic of Time Bakery continue to flourish.
